Alpha Brain Review Australia
Alpha Brain By Onnit – How Good Is It?
A hugely popular nootropic across Australia is Alpha Brain…. made by health and sports supplement specialists Onnit it promises to give its users that noticeable edge that can mentally separate you from your peers and colleagues.
The Formula In Alpha Brain
It’s a reasonably formulated product.. not the best we have ever reviewed, but each serving contains:
AC-11 – Known as the Rainforest Super Herb.. this is an extract taken from a plant called Cats Claw.. a plant commonly used by native tribal cultures for its immunity boosting and anti-oxidant properties.. known to repair the body’s DNA – it helps to improve mental drive and prevent that ‘foggy, or muzzy headed’ feeling
Alpha GPC – Derived from lecithin, Glyceryl Phosphoryl Choline (GPC) is a metabolite found in neuronal membranes…. when taken in supplement form, it helps to increase the synthesis of acetylcholine – something that has been linked to improved memory, increased focus, drive and better REM sleep quality
Hubertzia Serrata – an extract taken for the plant Northern Firmoss.. it is a natural AchE inhibitor (Acetylcholineseterase – breaks down Acetylocholine which reduces brain function) By making more Acetylcholine available, the brains performance is greatly improved.
Bacopa Monniera – A natural Herb native to India.. well used in Ayuverdic medicine, it has well documented effects in helping to improve mental function along with the ability to improve learning ability. it plays a protractive role in the synaptic functions of the main source of memory in the brain – the Hippocampus
Other ingredients include:
Vinpocetine – known to boost blood flow to the brain
Pterostilbene – natural anti oxidant, excellent at reducing mental ‘fog’
Oatstraw – natural anti stress nutrient – helps to maintain alertness
Phosphatidylserine (PS) – natural lipid found in brain cell membranes, can enhance mental performance by reducing stress – popular with athletes to improve focus on the track, or in the gym.
How To Use Alpha Brain
You can take in two ways…To boost mental performance, its recommended to take 1-2 capsules each morning with your breakfast… If you want to enhance your dreams you can take 1-2 capsules around 4-5 hours before you go to bed.
The makers also tell us that those over 200lbs can increase dose to 3 capsules daily.
The majority of users reviews are positive, with many people enjoying the improvement in memory and focus that Alpha Brain is designed to provide.
There are some users that didn’t experience any benefits after taking Alpha Brain as directed, so its obvious it does not work for all..
Any Side Effects?
There have been reports of users suffering mild headaches… one of the ingredients in particular – Alpha GPC is known for being responsible for causing some adverse reactions in (it has to be stressed) some cases.. it has been known to cause headaches, dizziness, insomnia, heartburn and in some cases confusion..

A highly popular product (no doubt generated by some excellent marketing by Onnits marketing people) that does use some good ingredients…. our main issue with Alpha Brain is that the makers prefer to hide the actual amounts of each ingredient behind several undisclosed proprietary blends…. by not knowing how much of any of the key components is in the mix, we have no idea if there is enough for it to be effective, and to be honest, if its safe enough for long term use..
Looking at the total ingredient amounts in each blend, it doesn’t look like there is very much of some ingredients in the mix, which leaves us to question just how potent this supplement really is..
That aside.. we don’t particularly like Alpha GPC as an ingredient – largely due to its potential for side effects in some users.. we much prefer something like Cognizin® – a popular form of citicoline… ( found in Mind Lab Pro for instance) it is generally considered to be less likely to cause any adverse problems.
Despite our slight misgivings, it does appear from some users feedback that it can provide some decent results for many users and because of this we have included Alpha Brain in our list of recommended nootropics…
There are better products out there (in our opinion) but its certainly one to check out…
